Jon Hedgepeth


For over twenty-five years, Jon W. Hedgepeth has practiced family law almost exclusively. In addition to traditional family law, Jon is also a certified practitioner of collaborative law. He is a member of the the Georgia Bar Family Law Section and the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section. He is also a past president of the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section.

Jon is recognized as one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Legal Elite-Georgia’s Most Effective Lawyers,” consistently earns a “10-Superb” rating in, listed as a Super Lawyer in Atlanta Magazine and is named in Worth Magazine as one of the Top 100 attorneys in the country. He is a Barrister in the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inns of Court, a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Old Warhorse Lawyer’s Club, and 1000 Lawyers for Justice. Jon frequently lectures for Continuing Legal Education family law seminars and is recognized as an authority on prenuptial agreements in Georgia in the Supreme Court decision in Dove v. Dove,  285 Ga. 647 (2009).

A native Atlantan, Jon earned his B.A. degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and earned his J.D. degree from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. Early in his career, he founded Moran & Hedgepeth, a general practice law firm, and since has practiced in several exclusive family law firms in Atlanta. After partnering with Hannibal Heredia to form Hedgepeth & Heredia, LLC in 2006, he formed Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder, LLC in 2012. Jon is licensed to practice before the State Bar of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Currently, Jon serves on committees for the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Washington & Lee University and the University of Richmond. He and his family are active members of Northside United Methodist Church. He participates in the Pro Bono Project of the State Bar of Georgia, Visions Anew, Buckhead Christian Ministry, and he co-founded Second Saturdays, a community service utilizing therapists, mediators and certified divorce financial planners open to women who want to learn more about the process of divorce. His wife, Jane, is a practicing real estate attorney, and together they are raising two teenaged children here in Atlanta.
